OTTA board directors review preparation of hosting WTT Youth Contender

The board directors of Oman Table Tennis Association (OTTA) reviewed the latest preparations for hosting


ITTF High Performance Training Camp and WTT Youth Contender event in Muscat. Both events will take place during October at Main Indoor hall of Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex.


The meeting, which was held remotely, discussed different topics including resumption of the domestic championships and participation of the senior team in 2021 Asian Championships in Qatar.


During the meeting which was headed by Abdullah BamaKhalif, chairman of OTTA, in presence of all the board members, the tournament updates were released.


WTT Youth Contender event will take place in Muscat during October 10 to 16. The boys competition will be held from October 10 to 12 while girls event will be from October 14 to 16. The competitions of both boys and girls tournaments are singles: U-11, U-13, U-15, U-17 and U-19. The entry registration deadline for WWT Youth Contender event will end on September 23.


Ahead of the tournament, ITTF High Performance Training Camp will be organised in Muscat during October 3 to 8 at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex. The number of participants at the ITTF High Performance Training Camp are 14 players including four players from Oman including two boys and two girls.


OTTA board approved Oman junior team internal camp which began on Friday and will last for ten days. The preparatory is part of team’s preparation to the ITTF camp and the WTT globe event class.


Board directors of OTTA announced that Resumption of the domestic championships will be from October 28 as the National Junior TT championship will take place from October 28 to 30 in the main indoor hall at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex.


The chairman of OTTA and board members approved Oman senior TT team participation at the 2021 Asian Championships which will take place in Doha from September 28 to October 5. The paddlers who will represent the Sultanate team in the Asian event including Asaad al Raisi, Muhannad al Balushi and Haitham al Mandhari. During the event, OTTA officials will take part in the Asian Congress.


OTTA board approved Chairman and Vice Chairman attendance in the ITTF Annual General Meeting which will take place in USA in November. Also, the board re-elected Masoud al Shaqsi to be the Sultanate’s representative in the GCC Table Tennis Committee.
