My Turban Project: Bringing new and innovative styles to Omani Musar

A project’s success is usually determined by a clear plan and impeccably execution. The relevant authorities dealing with SME’s always stress the importance of correct planning and of the detailed look of the feasibility study.


Hammad Suwailem, the owner of the “My Turban” project has put all these details into consideration and this helped the success of his small project to grow.


“My Turban” is a small enterprise dedicated to the production of ready-made turbans achieving great success as of this writing in the Wilayat of Salalah due to the uniqueness of its products. As an added feather to its hat, it already received many appreciations and commendation awards at the national level.


Young entrepreneur Hammad shared that his project started in 2015 and his idea revolves around innovation and modern twist by designing the Omani turban for all age groups in several different formations, fabrics and colours.


He said that there were several stages that preceded the production of the turban, which turned from an idea into thoughtful planning of how the product will work, leading to the implementation stage thanks to the support and funding of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority, Riyada.


As a testament to the success of Suwailem’s project, he has already opened three branches and has begun the process of registering “My Turban” as a trademark working also towards gaining intellectual property and industrial innovation certificate with the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion.


He stressed the importance of the commercial project owner to study his product in an integrated manner, seizing the available opportunities and benefiting from the support, facilities and financing provided by the concerned authorities to the owners of small and medium enterprises.


Sharing some insight into the project’s success, Hammad said that achieving this success and its continuity is achieved through proper preparation, good planning, diligence and perseverance in work, innovating new products, in addition to building relationships and the ability to manage risks and challenges that may face the project.


Suwailem participated in a number of exhibitions and competitions in the field of small and medium enterprises, where his project won several awards, such as the Salalah Medal for Excellence and Creativity in 2018, and the Entrepreneurship Award as the best small commercial enterprise for the year 2020.


It is worth noting that small and medium enterprises are an important tributary in strengthening the local economy, as the government seeks to make them a mainstay to ensure job opportunities and achieve added value by providing continuous support and stimulation to entrepreneurs.
