Muscat: The squid fishing season, known locally as "Al Gatro", is considered one of the most important fishing seasons because of its economic and social importance to the residents of the coastal areas of the South Al Sharqiyah and Al Wusta governorates.

This year's season began with the beginning of August and will continue until next January.

Squid is one of the natural marine resources and is distinguished by its high nutritional value and high prices in the local and international markets.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources represented by the General Directorates for the Development of Fishery resources in these governorates has completed its preparations for the success of this season.
