Dates for new school academic year announced in Oman

Muscat: The Minister of Education in Oman has issued a decision that the academic year 2021/2022 will start on September 12, 2021, and end on July 7, 2022.


Following the decision of the Supreme Committee to adopt the general framework for operating schools in the Sultanate during the academic year 2021/2022, it was decided to


start the new academic year from September 12 for the teaching, administrative and supervisory staff, and on September 19 all for all students in all grades.


In coordination with the Ministry of Health, a plan was made to immunize the teaching and administrative bodies and the jobs associated with them, and students from the age of (12) years and above:


All protocols will be in line with the latest epidemiological situation in the Sultanate.


Grades (1-6): will be operated by the blended education system (week by week), with the exception of low-density schools whose number of students does not exceed 20 students in one class, which will be 100 percent operated by the offline education system by following the precautionary measures.


Grades (11-7) will be operated 100 percent by the direct education system, except for schools whose number of students exceeds more than 30 students in one class, which will be operated by the blended education system (week by week), while adhering to the precautionary health measures.


Grade 12 will be operated 100 percent by the direct education system while adhering to the precautionary health measures.


Schools with grades (1-2 ), (5-10 ) (1-6) will have separate wings for the respective categories of students.


The ministry has clarified that specific mechanism for the functioning of its schools, whether through direct education or distance education, will be announced in the coming days.
