@lijucherianoman - Dr Hafsa Banu Abid, a dentist turned artist who specialises in unique patterns of nail and string art, was honoured at an art exhibition titled ‘Freedom’ in Dubai recently.
She was the only artist from the Sultanate to get this unique honour and her work was mentioned in the art book ‘Artnartisans’ which was launched at the art exhibition.
Details of her unique art was mentioned in the first of its kind coffee table book that featured the artists and their journey with artworks.
The book also showcased senior and emerging artists in a single platform showing their style of art, journey and accomplishments.
The idea of the book was initiated by the Paintbrush Art Community comprising Sonal Purohit and Dr Romit Purohit and Vikas Bhargav based in Dubai.
The book was released to be circulated at the embassies, galleries, business houses, government and cultural sectors to create a significant reach of the artistic world in the society locally and internationally. The book is also available in online versions on Kindle and Amazon.
Says an enthusiastic Dr Hafsa who runs White Smile Dental Specialty, “I was able to exhibit two nail and string artworks on Mother Teresa and a prayer and Islamic calligraphy named ‘Kun Fayakun’ which was well received and was known as the most unique art to be exhibited at the exhibition. I was praised especially by the guests of honour who referred to it as a never seen before art.”
Dr Hafsa received the certificates and the book from Mrs Ruby Sajan and Anis Sajan, Vice Chairman, Danube Group.
A galaxy of prominent personalities from different fields attended the event along with 36 artists with 55 of their artworks including Dr Hafsa. The event also consisted of an act by the doctors of Gulf Medical University, Ajman, UAE, and a live painting by Sugat Priyadarshini, a famous artist based in Dubai.
Well-known gallery curators, critics, celebrities and media persons namely Peter Gressman, Shiba and Farah Khan (Funun arts), Pari sagar (Be Attractive world), Saju Nair (iltelevisionario2), Dolly Bindra and Isha Farah Quraishy graced the event.
