MUSCAT: The General Commission for the Sultanate’s Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai organised a field visit to the Expo site. The visit came in coordination with the concerned authorities in preparation for the Sultanate’s participation in the international event. Expo 2020 is planned to commence on October 1, 2021 and will run until March 31, 2022.

The Omani delegation participating during the visit included Mohsin bin Khamis al Balushi, Commissioner General of the Sultanate at Expo 2020 Dubai, Sayyid Said bin Sultan al Busaidy, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Culture,Sports and Youth for Culture, Shaikh Salim bin Musallam al Kathiri, Head of the Sultanate’s Commercial Office in Dubai and officials from the public and private sectors institutions in the Sultanate. An invitation was extended to the Sultanate by the Expo’s Organising Committee to participate in the international meeting of participants in Expo 2020 Dubai.

During the visit, the organising committee discussed the activities and programmes planned during the exhibition’s period.

The pavilion is designed and built in a distinctive modern style inspired by one of the icons of nature in Oman, which is the frankincense tree. Its construction is divided to tell the story of the frankincense life cycle through its five zones relevant to the central theme and the three sub-themes of Expo 2020 Dubai. — ONA
