

Muscat: The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology said that it will provide support to the units of the state’s administrative apparatus to develop innovative solutions based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in all economic and vital sectors, which will keep pace with the developments of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
The use of Artificial Intelligence will help achieve the goals of Oman Vision 2040, the ministry said in a statement.
The use of AI that will be based on six principles - comprehensiveness, humanity, responsibility, justice, transparency, and safety - will enhance confidence in modern technologies and consolidate the values required for the governance of artificial intelligence systems.
The policy also will also focus on ethical issues and best practices that will ensure the optimal use of these systems and reduce potential risks.
The policy of using AI systems aims to stimulate the units of the state’s administrative apparatus to build national capacities in various fields, promote the use of artificial intelligence systems in all vital economic sectors
The ministry will prepare a set of ethical principles to ensure the accuracy and safety of automated decision-making processes by following the best practices and standards adopted globally.
