Air passengers can travel during lockdown

Muscat: Oman Airports has announced that all passengers departing and entering through the airports during the lockdown period are allowed to travel (only one escort is allowed with the presentation of a travel document), taking with regard Covid-19 travel requirements and procedures and medical tests required for your destination.


Passengers should provide their necessary traveling documents.


Non-travelers should call for approval from Royal Oman police at the following number 1099.


The Supreme Committee’s decision to impose the evening-time lockdown of commercial activities and ban on individual and vehicle movement from 5 pm to 4 am, will be enforced from Friday (July 16) with the exception of the three days of Eid al Adha which will see total lockdown.


The committee also decided not to hold Eid al Adha congregational prayers as well as the traditional habta markets. The ban also includes all forms of gatherings in all governorates of the Sultanate, including family gatherings, greeting groups, and mass festivities.


With the advent of the khareef season in Dhofar Governorate, the ROP affirms that entry to the governorate is restricted to citizens and residents who have taken at least one shot of the Covid-19 vaccine, while visitors from abroad should be fully vaccinated.


All flights are departing on time and for services operating during the lockdown period, passengers and those dropping them off or picking them up are allowed to travel to the airport, Oman Air said in a statement.


"Please ensure that you always carry a printed copy of travel tickets along with all applicable travel documents and valid ID in the event that you are asked to present them to the relevant authorities," the airline said.


"Don't forget to check the airline website for the latest travel updates, restrictions, and COVID-19 health and safety advisories before your next flight," the airline said.
