2,038 Omani employees retired till end-May

MUSCAT: A total of 2,038 employees have retired in the first 5 months of this year 63 per cent of whom are males and 37 per cent are females, according to the Civil Service Employees Pension Fund (CSEPF).


In its latest statistics published on Monday, the CSEPF indicated that the average age of the retirees was 49 years and the average length of service was 25 years while the average monthly pension was RO 955.


The CSEPF data showed that the total number of employees until the end of May this year stood at 70,396 of whom males account for 77 per cent and females 23 per cent. The total amount of monthly pensions stood at RO 40 million and the average age upon retirement was 50 years while the average length of service was 22 years and the average monthly pension was RO 575.


The total number of beneficiaries from the retirement pension until the end of May this year reached 85,215 beneficiaries, including 48,730 living retirees, and 36,485 heirs eligible for the pension.


The total number of subscribers with the CSEPF until the end of last May reached 162,683 subscribers, 51 per cent of whom are males and 49 per cent are females. The average age of the subscribers is 39 years and the average length of service is.


The number of employees in the units of the state’s administrative apparatus who are subject to the Civil Service Employees Pension Fund Law reached 158,249 employees.


The recent statistics showed that Muscat Governorate has the highest number of beneficiaries of the monthly pension at 23 per cent or 19,999, including 13,532 living retirees, and 6,167 heirs. Al Dakhiliyah Governorate came in second place with 14 per cent or 12,303 beneficiaries.
