Muscat: The Higher Education Admission Centre (HEAC) at the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation completed the two-month registration phase (May-July 2021).

Dr Hamad Khalfan al Numani, HEAC Director General said that the number of General Education Diploma (GED) students and its equivalent registered for the academic year 2020/2021 reached 44,779 of them 23,040 males and 21,739 females. As many as 39,865 students made their initial study programme choices.

Al Numani added in a statement to Oman News Agency (ONA) that the center is preparing for the upcoming registration and admission stages, which are as important as the initial registration. He explained that their dates coincide with the announcement of GED students' final results for the academic year 2020/2021.

He further said that it is expected that the study programmes update will be announced in the first week of next August, coinciding with the start of the stage of finalizing study programme choices.

The registration in this phase confirms the students' choices to compete in the first sorting. Students are advised to carefully follow the updates. During this stage, students can add new programmes either from the student’s guide or from the new study programmes that will be announced on the HEAC website and social media accounts when the registration starts. --ONA
