SALALAH: The national vaccination campaign in Dhofar Governorate is picking up at various immunisation centres in the state.
The Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex for Culture and Entertainment in Salalah stood out in the vaccination programme due to its capabilities and response.
A large number of health, medical and technical services have been put into service that led to the largest percentage of the target population turning up for vaccination.
Mohammed bin Saeed Hamdiya al Shahri, Head of the Infectious Diseases Department at the General Directorate of Health Services in the Governorate of Dhofar and the field supervisor of the immunisation campaign at the Complex, explained that the immunisation process in the complex has facilities both for men and women.
“After receiving the vaccine, the vaccinated people are directed to places designated to wait for a period of not more than 15 minutes to ensure that no side effects occur after soon after the vaccination,” he said.
Those who receive the vaccine get all possible information about the vaccination, its process, symptoms, any other queries that they have.
The head of the Infectious Diseases Department in Dhofar Health Department confirmed the safety and efficacy of the vaccines.
“A team of 20 people -- 10 each in men and women sections -- is engaged in the vaccination campaign at the Complex,” he said.
Al Shahri said the Complex is keeping the facility for 2,000 people per day. This is done for the twin purposes of covering maximum people and avoid crowding at one place.
