SC issues guidelines for tailor shops

Muscat: The Supreme Committee on Covid-19 has set a number of preventive measures needed to be observed in tailor shops and factories.



  1. Tailors should conduct daily temperature checks and wellness screenings to workers for any signs of illness.

  2. He should keep individuals with body temperature greater than 37 off site, ensure proper ventilation in the shop, work with the minimum number of workers and do not relocate employees from one location to another.

  3. He needs also to provide hand sanitiser stations or alcohol-based hand rubs containing at least 70% alcohol, maintains appropriate social distancing measures (2 metres), and makes sure that all wash and sterilise their hands frequently.

  4. A tailoring shop must request workers to use personal protective equipment, do not serve food to customers and prohibit entry of unmasked customers and those with body temperature over 37 degrees Celsius.

  5. Keeping details and contact information of customers like; ID, phone numbers, and place of residence to help competent authorities detect infections.

  6. Deny entry of individuals who exhibit signs of sickness.

  7. Cancel customer waiting.

  8. Ban the entry of people aged 60 years and above and children less than 12

  9. Open the doors as much as possible.

  10. Allow only one customer and keep a two metre distance between the worker and the customer if there is enough space at the shop.

  11. Do not take body measurements manually

  12. Do not carry out the tailoring process in places other than the shop.

  13. Remove newspaper and magazines

  14. Disinfect carrier bags with a spray in front of the customer and before handling.
