Muscat: The Sultanate, represented by the Ministry of Labour, has won membership to the International Labour Organisation (ILO)’s governing body for the period (2021-2024).

This was the result of elections held via videoconferencing on the sidelines of ILO’s 109th international session elections, in which the Sultanate bagged the second largest number of ballots involving the post of permanent member for Asia and the Pacific.

It is worth noting that the Sultanate has been an ILO member since 1994. It is the first time that Oman is elected to this position, which upgrades its status in the field of labour and highlights its active contribution towards the development of ILO criteria. --ONA
