

The production of wheat and red sugar in Al-Awija farms in the Wilayat of Manah in the Governorate of Al-Dakhiliyah for the current season has reached 200 tons.
Muhammad Al Bahlani, Director of the Department of Agricultural Wealth and Water Resources in the Wilayat of Manah, said that Al Awija in the Wilayat of Manah is one of the fertile agricultural areas whose green spaces contribute to securing the food sector and supplying local markets with agricultural crops.
He added that the Department of Agricultural Wealth and Water Resources provides services and guidance to farmers, and provides wheat harvesting machines, in addition to distributing seeds and combating diseases that affect plants.
He indicated that the areas that farmers reclaimed and cultivated in Al Awija amounted to about 160 acres, in which agricultural crops varied. The wheat and red sugar crop were the most important crops of production in Al Awija farms. Its production is approximately 17 tonnes.
He stressed that the department endeavours to increase diversity in the cultivation of crops in Al-Awija, because it is one of the villages distinguished by land fertility. He also said that modern they’ve introduced irrigation system to rationalize water consumption.
