MUSCAT: Oman Electricity Transmission Company (OETC) has completed personal interviews to employ 50 job seekers, in coordination with the Ministry of Labour, Authority for Public Services Regulation (APSR) and Nama Holding Company, where the Ministry of Labour and APSR announced earlier about these opportunities through the associated training mechanism, employing 800 Omanis in the electricity sector in the Sultanate. OETC conducted personal interviews with about 150 candidates for the available jobs to select 50 job seekers to work in supervisory and technical positions such as assistant engineer, maintenance supervisor, health, safety and environment officer, electrical technician, and line installers. The company has formed three committees to conduct personal interviews and evaluate the candidates to select those who are qualified to join the contracts of the contracting companies to replace the expatriates.

On the company’s efforts to provide job opportunities for national cadres, Mubarak al Jahwari, Senior Manager of the Human Resources Department, said: “The company is committed to achieving a high percentage of Omanisation for our national cadres, as the company’s Omanisation rate has reached 95%, and we are currently working with our partners, the contracting companies, to replace the expatriates with national cadres, and in the coming days, 50 job seekers will be trained and employed, and we are trying to increase this number successively. He added: We will continue to support Omani youth and give them training opportunities on the job, as the company annually trains a number of graduates from different universities and colleges to hone their skills and their knowledge experiences to prepare them for the labour market."
