The Jaalan Photography Group is a space for creativity to highlight and promote historical and tourist attractions, traditional, popular Omani crafts and authentic Omani costumes. It includes members from the three Wilayats of South Al Sharqiyah Governorate: Jaalan Bani Bu Ali, Jaalan Bani Bu Hassan and Al Kamil W’al Wafi.
The group aims to spread the culture of the art of photography among those interested and to promote their work to encourage them to give their best in cooperation with the Photographic Society of Oman. This is achieved through lectures, seminars and courses related to photography and participation in various forums.
Muhammad al Jaafari, head of the Jaalan Photography Group, explained that the team was established on February 27, 2014, with the support and patronage of the Al Ashkharah Youth. After two years the team moved to be officially under the umbrella of Al Wehda Sports Club, and it includes a group of creative young people in the field of photography from all wilayats in Jaalan. The team participated in many forums, festivals and competitions at the level of the Sultanate and abroad, as it won first place and the gold medal in the 2018 Forum for Photography, which was held by the PSO. It achieved more than 600 awards, ranging from gold, silver, bronze and appreciation medals.
