MUSCAT: The Sultanate, represented by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, will today take part in celebrating the International Museum Day (IMD) which is celebrated annually on May 18, since 1977.

This year’s celebration is titled “The Future of Museums: Recover and Reimagine”. The focus of this year’s celebration is to increase awareness about the role of museums in developing societies.

The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism has exerted sincere efforts to operate museum activities in a bid to cope with the circumstances posed by Covid-19 pandemic. The ministry organises different museum activities virtually and continues meeting with educational institutions to develop the role of museums in various fields. It also continues engaging employees in online training workshops and courses. — ONA
