MUSCAT, May 11
The new Board of Directors of the Oman School Sports Association (OSSA) held on Monday the first regular meeting after restructuring the board under the chairmanship of Dr Abdullah bin Khamis Ambusaidi, Under-Secretary for Education at the Ministry of Education and chairman of OSSA, in presence of all the members.
The meeting which was held remotely through video conferencing discussed different vital topics.
During the meeting, Fahad al Mashakhyi, Secretary-General of OSSA, briefed the chairman and the members on the current status of the association on executive and financial related subjects. Hisham al Adwani, vice-chairman of OSSA, presented a proposal on formation of sub-panels from the board level and to set the association’s strategic plan besides the partnership with the OSSA committees in different governorates to activate society partnership.
The formation of the OSSA executive committee was another item in the discussions. The board agreed that the executive committee will be headed by Hisham al Adwani, OSSA Vice-chairman, with the following members: Fahad al Mashakhyi, Secretary-General, Abdullah al Saadi, board treasurer, Mohammed al Farsi and Safa al Salmi.
The board also discussed the activation of the association with the government, private and sporting entities for the forthcoming assignments. OSSA, which was established in 2016, is aimed to boost the schooling sports and spreading the sporting culture among the students with providing them the proper environment to play and practice different individual and group sports. Also, the purpose of the association is to utilise and integrate with the schooling sports activities targets and educational sports courses.
HH Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham bin Tarik al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, had issued on 22nd April 2021, a ministerial decision to revamp the board of the Oman School Sports Association.
The board of OSSA is headed by Chairman Dr Abdullah bin Khamis Ambusaidi and Hisham al Adwani as vice-chairman. Fahad al Mashakhyi is Secretary-General while Abdullah al Saadi is the board treasurer. Mohammed al Farsi, Saleema la Harthi, Safa al Salmi, Yousef Awadh and Khalid al Riyami are the board members.
