Oman reported only 770 new cases indicating that restrictive measures have been paying off. However, the daily deaths recorded high at nine.

With 1,352 people recovering from the infection, the number of inpatients dropped substantially to 782. The recovery rate is now 90.6 per cent. Only 75 people were admitted to hospitals in the 24 hours across the Sultanate, while the intensive care units (ICUs) still have 281 patients.

The total number of cases registered in the Sultanate has now reached 198,572, including 2,071 deaths.

Meanwhile, the Directorate General of Health Services in Muscat is making continuous efforts to complete the vaccination process by ensuring that the primary health services are not affected.

According to Dr Lamia bint Hussain al Balushi, Director of Disease Control and Disease Control Department, the directorate continues with primary healthcare by providing health centres with its basic services and its new role to confront Covid-19 cases.

So far 73,269 people have received the second dose of vaccines in the country, including 18,936 community members and 7,424 health workers in Muscat.

TECHNICAL TEAM

A technical team was formed to implement the campaign based on the target groups and the quantities of available vaccines. After initial reluctance to vaccinate, the turnout at all health centres designated for vaccination has improved.

Five central sites have been activated in Muscat to give vaccinations, which is the main hall of the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bowsher and Sablah Muttra and the office of the Wali of Qurayat and the Qurayat Health Complex.

The director urged all community members to start protecting themselves, adhering to preventive measures, applying social distancing standards, wearing masks, not circulating rumours.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health has notified that the second dose of Oxford/ AstraZeneca vaccine will be given four months from the first dose due to the shortage in the global supply.
