The General Federation of Oman Workers (GFOW) said that a set of legislations and initiatives implemented recently will fundamentally make the labor market in the private sector in the Sultanate more attractive, especially the abolition of the requirement to provide a No-Objection Certificate (NOC).

"The decision to scrap NOC will undoubtedly contribute to reducing human trafficking and providing more room for the worker to get better job opportunities," said Nabhan al Battashi, chairman of GFOW, in his statement on the occasion of Labour Day on May 1.

He added that the Job Safety Fund launched this year will enhance the principle of social solidarity, and gives protection to the workers of the private sector worker against any risk that may threaten their future job stability, especially during this current critical situation where a number of private establishments have to mass layoffs of its workers

In the field of improving litigation procedures in labor cases, the Law issued by Royal Decree 125/2020 will have a major prominent impact on enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency in adjudicating labor disputes, through which we hope to address many problems that existed in the job market.

Other priorities will be to follow up on the adoption of the new labor law, in which GFOW contributed to the preparation of its draft, provided its observations, supported by legal bases and comparative legislations to reach the right objective.
