Oman national teams set for busy schedule in May

The Oman national football team players are set for busy month of May as the team will travel to Dubai on May 16 to complete the second part of the overseas camp. The Sultanate’s Olympic (U-23) team will head off to Bahrain for external preparatory camp from May 20 to June 9 while the national beach soccer team will begin a warm-up camp in Morocco from May 11. The national teams’ directorate at Oman Football Association (OFA) had approved the plans set by the technical staff for better preparations for the forthcoming international and regional assignments.


The ‘Red Warriors’ will begin their warm-up for the remaining three matches of the joint qualification of the 2022 Fifa World Cup and 2023 AFC Asian Cup Championship through Dubai camp as the qualifier will be held in Doha next June.


Dubai camp will feature two friendly matches, against Thailand and Indonesia on May 25 and 29 respectively. The last preparatory gathering of the team will be scheduled in Doha prior the kick off the World Cup qualifier in few days.


Oman will also take part in the Fifa Arab Cup Qatar 2021 in December and Arabian Gulf Cup in Iraq.


Head coach Branko Ivankovic recently expressed his satisfaction after conclusion of the first phase of Dubai camp. “All the supporting tools were available at Dubai camp as we focused on our technical preparations. We had concentrated on the fitness and physical part during the recently concluded camp in Dubai while the next part will be focused on some tactical sessions,” the Croatian coach said.


BEACH SOCCER


WORLD CUP


The Oman national beach soccer team will start the first preparatory camp in Morocco from May 11 to gear up for the top assignment in Fifa Beach Soccer World Cup Russia 2021. Two friendly matches are confirmed for the team against Morocco and will take place on May 15 and 16. The next camp will be in Dubai during June and will feature some friendly games.


After an absence of more than two months, the Oman Olympic (U-23) football team will return to training sessions as they will have an overseas camp from May 20 to June 9 in Manama city, Bahrain. The Olympic team will meet Bahrain team in friendly matches on June 5 and 8 as a part of the external warm-up camp. The camp is part of the team’s preparation for the Asian Olympic Qualifiers that will take place in October. The finals of the AFC Asian (U-23) will be held in September 2022 in Uzbekistan during September 6 to 25.
