Target to support Khalid Soomar in Oman and UAE rallies

MUSCAT: Oman rally champion Khalid Soomar confirmed that Target LLC will continue to support him this season in rally championships in Oman and the UAE.
Target is sponsoring Soomar for 2 years starting with the Oman and UAE rally championships.
Soomar, who is currently leading the UAE Rally Championship with 51 points on Mitsubishi Evo 7, confirmed his participation in the next round of UAE rally in Al Dhaid this month. The Omani driver hopes to maintain the lead along with his co-driver Issa Alwardi.
After confirming the support and sponsorship, Yousef Shammas, General-Manager and board member of Target LLC, said the tie-up with Khalid Soomar was good for the two parties for the last 2 years. “We have good relations with Soomar and Target will support him for next season in Oman and UAE rallies.
“We at Target are glad to continue supporting Khalid this year also as part of our CSR responsibility within the Sultanate. Khalid is a good driver and looking forward always to win, so all companies should support local talents not just in sport but in different fields,” Shammas added.
Tariq Shammas, DGM at Target, said they had supported previously many initiatives as part of social programmes, which they continue to do.
“In case of Khalid Soomar, we are with him since 2 years sponsoring his participations in rally world and we were supporting his brother Khalil before that for two seasons,” he said.
A delighted Khalid Soomar said: I really appreciate the support I got from Target this season, many thanks for Yousef and Tareq Shammas for their help which helps me to take part in the Oman and UAE rally this season.”
Soomar added: “As you currently know I am leading the championship in UAE and to continue this lead with good result you need a lot of money to prepare the car to be best fit for the competition. Therefore Target always back up for me in this championship, but still the cost is too high to cover and we look forward for more support from different companies.”
