The roots of education are bitter, but the fruit is sweet, Greek philosopher Aristotle had said.

A better future can never be guaranteed without some sacrifice.

Even as the first semester school exams are getting closer, parents are busy with their children, helping them prepare for it. Teachers are on stand-by, receiving queries from parents throughout the day.

These days are quite stressful for both students as well as parents, who are worried about their children’s performance and their preparation for the exam. Undoubtedly, these are testing times for them.

Parents spare no effort in helping the children prepare well for the exams. Sometimes, they try to spoon-feed them with every single information available in the books.

Some parents make an effort to study all books in detail and often get in touch with teachers for clarification, consultation and help. At the same time, they review children’s books and prepare them for the exam.

Almost every family is stressed. It’s an “emergency situation” until the children finish all their exams.

Can’t imagine the plight of parents who have a couple of school-going children, especially at the elementary grade level. Parents too go through a lot of stress. May Allah bless them all.

Possibly, some of you are experiencing this kind of stress these days. In some cases, parents prefer to study the entire book in order to make sure they get every single detail when teaching the children.

They do not want to miss out on anything. On such occasions, parents are more serious about studies than the students.

According to teachers, some parents know more about the subjects than their children. The questions and enquiries that they have addressed to the teachers are more detailed.

It shows how serious parents are, striving to enlighten their children with all information and to get them prepared for every potential question that might be asked in the exam.

Perhaps, parents believe in the statement of former US president John F Kennedy, who had said: “A child miseducated is a child lost.”

Parents are used to such hard times. They consider it a part of their parental responsibilities. They try to give their best in an attempt to give children a better future after school. This is what most parents wish for.

However, it is important for parents to remember that the stress they are undergoing should not get transferred to the children.

As these are busy days for students, they need some peace of mind to prepare for the exam. Special emotional care and attention from parents are necessary for children at this crucial time.

A few minutes of free time to relax and refresh in between exams will be helpful to the students. It helps them to refresh their memory.

Once the exam battle is over, comes the harvest day for the students’ hard work. Parents will be waiting for this day to see the fruit of their endeavour and support.

They would love to see their children shine; they want to see their names on the list of distinguished students at school.

Parents leave no stone unturned to pave the way of success for their children. All parents, teachers and social specialists at schools should lend a hand of support to students and allow them to value the real taste and significance of education so they celebrate fruits of their success afterward.
