Muscat: Majlis Ash’shura Office meeting was chaired by Shaikh Rashid bin Ahmed al Shamsi, Deputy Chairman of Majlis Ash’shura on Tuesday. The Office discussed the reply of the Minister Responsible for Financial Affairs on the detailed items of budgets of service ministries.
It also reviewed the response on the financial support provided to government companies for basic services to citizens and complete the construction of infrastructure.
Further, the Office discussed a range of topics referred by the government, which included some ministerial responses to several parliamentary questions presented by some members of Majlis Ash’shura, which come as one of the oversight tools granted to members under the current legislative and oversight powers for Majlis Ash’shura.
The Office also reviewed the Council of Ministers’ letter on the ministerial annual reports for 2016 of a number of ministries, including the Ministry of Manpower, the Ministry of Sports Affairs, the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs and the Ministry of Social Development.
The reports included a summary of what was accomplished during 2016 and implementation stages of projects of the ministries, the most important plans and strategies prepared by them and relevant statistics. — ONA
