By Staff Reporter — MUSCAT: Jan. 8 – A consultation lab discussed a number of proposals for financing an allowance scheme for Omani workers rendered jobless. Discussions were held in the presence of Shaikh Abdullah bin Nasser al Bakri, Minister of Manpower, Public Authority for Social Insurance (PASI) Chairman, and Hamdah bint Said al Shamsiyah, acting DG, PASI. The authority, in coordination with International Labour Organisation (ILO), has prepared a draft for the scheme, which aims to provide an alternative source of income for those whose services have been terminated for reasons beyond their control. Participants analysed the pros and cons of each finance option in order to come up with the best one, which would be recommended to PASI’s board of directors.
