MUSCAT: The Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) recently succeeded in arriving at a mutual settlement between a consumer and an auto agency over a malfunctioning engine. PACP said it seeks to resolve all the complaints in a friendly manner.

As per the details, a consumer had filed a complaint against an auto agency over a malfunctioning engine of his vehicle. The agency had refused to repair the vehicle on the grounds that the consumer did not maintain the vehicle properly nor did he change the CVT oil in line with established procedures.

PACP agreed to reach to a settlement between the two parties under which agency will repair the vehicle’s gear, which is estimated to cost around RO 2,400, of which the consumer will be entitled to pay an amount of RO 400.

Meanwhile, PACP launched a campaign to recall the number of 2,287 Nissan Navarra car models - 2008 to 2015 due to the possibility of certain faults in the airbags.

PACP said it is part of the efforts to ensure the traffic safety and in line with its commitment towards reviewing all products offered in the Sultanate’s markets to provide the necessary protection for consumers.
