The national airline, Oman Air plans to launch flights to four to five new destinations this year, including Istanbul in June, Casablanca in July and Moscow in October, said the airline’s acting CEO Abdulaziz al Raisi. Speaking on the sidelines of an event to mark the inauguration of Boeing 737-Max at Muscat International Airport, Al Raisi said the airline and its team are prepared to take over operations from the new international airport. “The last flight to leave from the current airport will be an Oman Air aircraft.” “We plan to reopen the routes to Beirut, Singapore, Chittagong and Dhaka and the Maldives,” he said. The airline is working with the Indian government to secure rights for launching flights to Ahmedabad, Mangalore and Kolkata.

Oman Air plans to introduce ten weekly flights to Milan and Paris as against current daily flights, and daily flights to Guangzhou, China, instead of the current four weekly flights. It is assessing the viability of starting operations to Shanghai and Beijing in China. The airline has upgraded the flights to Cairo to an A330 aircraft instead of the current 737. He added, “We have 30 Boeing Max aircraft on order and by the end of 2018, we will receive a total of five aircraft. They will serve both domestic and short-to-medium international sectors. The new B737 Max will be equipped with 12 new Business Class seats with large 17 touchscreen monitors and all amenities, including power and USB points.”
