OHA, Zubair renew support agreement

MUSCAT: The Oman Handball Association (OHA) on Tuesday renewed a support and sponsorship agreement with Zubair Corporation under the Oman Olympic Committee’s (OOC) programme ‘Sport for Development.


The signing ceremony was held at the OOC and Sports Associations Building, Al Ghubrah.


Shaikh Saif bin Hilal al Hosni, OOC Vice-Chairman, in his address said: “The Omani private sector is now playing an increasing role and taking keen interest in promoting various spheres, particularly the field of sport, the aim being to uplift the technical standards of our athletes and players. This agreement is a gesture that epitomises the OOC’s theme ‘Sport for Development’, with its ultimate goal being to place the Sultanate in a high profile in the international arenas.”


Saif al Hosni appreciated Zubair Corporation for its continuing support and cooperation with OOC and sports associations.


OHA Chairman Dr Said bin Ahmed Al Shuhri thanked the Zubair Corporation represented by Sheikh Khalid bin Muhammad Al Zubair for renewing the agreement and for the constant support that they accord to the association’s activities. “Our plans are based on the vision adopted by Oman Olympic Committee and sports associations under the theme ‘Sport for Development’ which aims at propagating sports culture within the society,” he said.


Rashid bin Abdullah al Hooti, General-Manager, Zubair Corporation, was also present.


Earlier, Taha bin Sulaiman al Kishry, OOC Secretary-General, stressed the importance of the approach adopted by OOC towards capturing support of the private sector. He commended the efforts being made by Zubair Corporation in sports.
