MUSCAT: The Oman Cancer Association (OCA) on Tuesday organized the 14th annual walkathon under the slogan ‘Walking for our Lives’ under the auspices of Her Highness Sayyida Dr Mona bint Fahd al Said, Assistant Vice-chancellor for International Cooperation at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), at the Qurm Nature Park. The walkathon included a number of accompanying events including theatrical shows and varied awareness events about cancer with participation of government and private establishments and individuals.
HH Sayyida Dr Mona stressed the importance of such events in increasing awareness about different types of cancer in terms of the causes, symptoms and treatment. She added that the wide participation by all society segments in the walkathon is a clear evidence of the level of awareness among members of the public which boosts the morale of the organizer and volunteers towards exerting more efforts to fight cancer. — ONA
