MUSCAT: Dr Farhad Tayebipour, Assistant Professor and Director of Quality Assurance of the Faculty of English Language Studies at Majan University College, presented a paper at an international conference held in Padua, Italy, on July 25, 26, and 27, 2018.
The conference was organised by the Department of Linguistics and Literary Studies, University of Padua, Italy. The main theme of the conference was ‘exploring and assessing pragmatic aspects of L1 and L2 communication: from needs analysis through monitoring to feedback’. Pragmatics is the field of linguistics that examines aspects of language in use, and Dr Farhad’s paper was on an aspect of second language (L2) pragmatics instruction. More specifically, it was on how to more effectively teach L2 pragmatics to EFL learners. The results of the paper have particular relevance for L2 pragmatics instruction in the EFL context.
