MUSCAT: Knowledge Oman (KO), the leading community knowledge sharing platform in the Sultanate, held a workshop about Women Entrepreneurship yesterday at the training centre of the Public Authority for Civil Aviation.

The workshop featured some of the very successful women entrepreneurs in the local community from various industries including Ghada al Harthy, Nadia Khan, Atifa al Lawati, Zuwaina al Rashdi, Hala al Balushi and Amal al Raisi.

The workshop was attended by more than 150 people including entrepreneurs, students and working employees from both the private and government sector.

The purpose of the workshop was to showcase the elite entrepreneurs and get to know more about their stories, proving the strong capabilities and skills demonstrated by the local entrepreneurs and aspire towards coaching the next generation to pursue the same path.

It is worth mentioning despite the current economic slowdown, the interest of starting businesses is growing positively and the

number of SMEs in Oman is increasing steadily.

Sharifa al Barami, Managing Director of Oman Technology Fund’s accelerator programme, said: “It is interesting to see such a combination of students along with entrepreneurs and working employees to learn more from the local entrepreneurs and have a better understanding of the challengers that are specifically related to the women and the ways to overcome them.”

Khalfan al Mehrzi, President of Knowledge Oman, said: “We are thankful for the elite women entrepreneurs for accepting our invitation and share their inspiring stories to further help us

understand the dynamic field of entrepreneurship and the ways to improve the ecosystem for more positive outcomes.

This success fuels us to have more workshops to further give back to the community.”
