Indian Embassy organises classical music concert

MUSCAT: The Embassy of India, Muscat, in continuation of celebration of 70 years of Independence of India, organised, at its premises on September 23, an evening of ‘Indian Classical Music’, in association with Al Omaniya Financial Services, Oman’s largest non-banking financial institution, which is celebrating its 20 years of operations in Oman.


A four member music troupe from Academy of Music Belgavi, consisting of renowned singers Prabhakar Shahapurkar, Sarang and Angad Desai and Dr Sudhanshu Kulkarni presented an array of classical, semi-classical, instrumental and vocal music in Hindi, Kannada and Marathi.


The event was attended by around 300 persons including dignitaries from Oman, members of diplomatic community, members of Indian community and media.


Celebrating India @70, Indian Embassy has been organising a series of events in Oman since August 2017 and concludes on August 2018. Oman has already witnessed performances of Kathak dance and Rajasthani Folk dance during August 2017.


In coming months, the Embassy will organise more dance performances, musical performances, a theatre festival, a quiz competition, painting exhibition, painting competition, essay competition and a seminar.


Indian Social Club as well as Indian schools in Oman have also organising various events in celebration of India@70.
