Human rights body hails HM’s peace efforts

885450By Khalid al adawi — MUSCAT: Dec 31: The Arab-European Center of Human Rights and International Law has described His Majesty as a doctor for every disease in the Middle East region now witnessing several developments and unsettled conditions as a result of unrest and internal disputes currently shaking the region. The Oslo-based Arab-European Centre of Human Rights and International Law (AECHRIL) Centre said that thanks to the efforts made by His Majesty, peace and coexistence have become a reality on the ground. Speaking to Oman Arabic, sister publication of the Observer, Aihan Jaf, Secretary General of AECHRIL, said that the Centre is seeking to launch an initiative to designate Muscat as the capital of peace.

He added that the Centre will be holding meetings in January to officially declare the initiative once approved. His Majesty has deserved the Centre’s Arab International Award for 2016 in recognition of the great humanitarian role His Majesty has made for the Arab and Muslim nations particularly during the past five years as well as his noble attitudes and mediations which resulted in peace and stability in some countries, Jaf said. Among the political and humanitarian stands of His Majesty on the local and international levels were backing the Syrian and Yemeni issues, supporting aid efforts in Gaza Strip, improving the standard of living for the

Omani citizens and the expatriates settled in the Sultanate, he said.  The secretary general of AECHRIL affirmed that His Majesty has become an icon of peace and stability thanks to his democratic and calm policy. His Majesty’s non-interference policy has won him the man of peace title. Tensions are running high in the region and His Majesty has played a great part to bring stability to the region for the sake of the coming generations and we hope to see him playing other roles being an agreeable personality and a friend of all nations.
