A bright moon outshined the annual Perseids meteor shower, which peaked on Saturday, across the world including the Sultanate.
Ali bin Amur al Shaibani, Omani astronomer and member of Oman Astronomical Society, said the moon appeared on the centre of the meteorite show, diminishing the effect of the shower.
There were many enthusiasts looking towards North East direction on Saturday night looking out for the best spot to gaze at the celestial shower.
“The far end of Al Amerat where there was no artificial light the observation was also good. Many people in Jebel Akhdar were enquiring on how to watch the meteorite shower.
Jebel Akhdar and Jebel Shams are the best but this time some of the best views happened on Musandam proving
the location is another prominent place on the list,
astronomy enthusiasts, said.
