Muscat, Dec 31 - A total of 200 media coordinators from different schools in the North Batinah Governorate attended a forum in Suhar. Organised by the General Directorate of Education in North Al Batinah Governorate, the forum was aimed at identifying the latest developments in education media, and imparting technical skills and basics of journalism. The meeting saw the presentation of a number of papers. Dr Ali al Badi from Al Buraimi College presented a paper titled ‘News Story’, which dealt with the definition of news and its characteristics.
Khalfan al Asmi, Head of Radio and Television Programmes Department, spoke about the basic components of social networking sites and marketing via social media. Salam al Sharji, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Educational Forum, spoke about the importance of the forum and the technical steps for documenting news. A seminar held on the occasion shed light on challenges facing media coordinators in the school. It was moderated by Hilal al Lahouri, Head of Educational Relations and Information Department at North Al Batinah Educational Forum, and Khalfan al Asmi, Head of Radio and Television Programmes.
