Statistics released by the authorities show the efforts made in the direction of Omanisation are bringing positive results. It is highly commendable and appreciable.
Huge efforts have been made to come up with these statistics. A total of 47 advertisement supplements have been published in at least four newspapers. It means there were 3-4 supplements a week.
Similarly, 44 supplements were published inviting young people for interviews and tests. These advertisements were either for job opportunities or invitations to youth for interviews and tests.
As a result of this massive effort made by the Ministry of Manpower and the Public Authority of Manpower Register, 64,386 citizens, both male and female, got jobs in the private sector and 4,125 in the public sector in just 12 months.
What was important was that the efforts placed interest of the youth above everything, leaving no stone unturned in achieving goals and addressing the aspirations of the people.
It is true there are challenges in the way of recruitment process. There are people who get jobs either in public sector or private sector.
Some accept employment and then resign. There are some who are not happy with their jobs in an organisation.
At the same time, some companies may not be happy with the new employees, their skills or their productivity levels. These, however, are issues that are normal in the employment/ replacement processes anywhere in the world.
What we appreciate is that companies and national institutions truly understand reality on the ground, that the absorption and employment of young people is a government’s choice and an approach that cannot be avoided at any cost or at any level. This implies support to the future efforts of the government.
Omanisation is for overall development of the nation. There is virtue in the approach of Omanisation for the entire society. It will ultimately prove to be a major development plan which will be beneficial for employers as well.
In the same context, the youths have to accept the jobs offered and made available to them because something is better than nothing.
Beginnings are always tough. Youth should not assume things will be smooth all the time. They might have to tread a path of thorns sometimes to reach their goals.
Achievements made after hardship are always great. Bitterness in the path brings sweetness at the end. Companies and establishments are not charity organisations. They will not pay unless there is real, visible output. This is the reality that the youth should understand.
In light of all this, we see that the ratio of job-seekers and employers are different. No organisation or a government can find instant solutions to this.
Statistics show there are 45,000 youth still looking for a job. The figure is increasing every year. All of them waiting for the moment they will be employed. They can get a job only when there is a joint effort and cooperation and understanding of responsibilities.
We are confident the efforts made in this direction prove fruitful. Omanisation is a responsibility of both public and private sectors.
