Education and Research panel reviews TRC plans

MUSCAT: The Education and Research Committee at the State Council on Tuesday hosted Dr Hilal bin Ali al Hinai, Secretary-General of The Research Council (TRC), Sayyid Dr Fahd bin Al Julanda al Said, TRC Assistant Secretary-General for Innovation Development and Dr Idris bin Saleh al Rahbi, Head of Planning and Studies Department at TRC.
The hosting comes within the framework of the committee’s study to the role of education in supporting the knowledge-based economy.
This came during the committee’s 6th meeting of the third annual sitting for the 6th term, which was held under the chairmanship of Dr Abdullah bin Mubarak al Shanfari, Head of the Committee.
The committee discussed a number of themes with TRC officials, such as the role of scientific research in supporting the march of economic development and promoting the transition towards knowledge-based economy by building an advanced system of scientific research and innovation, integrating the education strategy, the scientific research strategy and the national strategy of innovation to enhance the orientation towards the knowledge based economy, as well as adopting enhanced scientific methods for the knowledge based economy.
The meeting also discussed TRC efforts to achieve its vision, namely making the Sultanate a regional hub for innovation.— ONA
