By Sports Reporter — MUSCAT: Jan 4: The main organising committee for the 2nd World Military Cup for Soccer 2017 (CISM) has announced the sponsors of the championship which will be hosted by the Sultanate from January 13 to 29. The committee made the announcement during a press conference held on Wednesday at the Hormuz Grand Hotel under the auspices of Air Commodore Maktoum bin Salim Al Mazroui, Assistant Chief of Staff for Training and Joint Exercises and Head of the Organising Committee for the Military World Cup for Soccer 2017. Saud Bahwan Group and Ericcsson Oman are the main sponsors. Al Maha Petroleum Products Marketing and Oman Munition Production Company (OMPC) are the golden sponsors.
In all, 17 companies will be sponsoring the event including the main sponsors, golden sponsors and participant sponsors. The committee has decided to provide free entry for supporters in all the venues, it has been announced during the press conference. Participants in the tournament include 16 military national teams that qualified from the pre-qualifying stage, as well as to the host country and the champion of the previous version. Oman’s military football team won Asian Cup Qualifiers for the World Military Soccer Cup (CISM), organised in the Sultanate in 2013. The team won the second place in the World Military Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan.
