Big crowds throng book fair as last day nears

MUSCAT: Visitors of all ages along with their friends and families are thronging the book fair as the final day of the 23rd edition of the annual Muscat International Book Fair at the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre nears.


The Organisers are expecting a big turnout today (Friday: 4 pm-10 pm) and tomorrow (Saturday: 10 am-10 pm) as the visitors are likely to flock to get their desired books in the final days.


Over 878 publishing houses from 28 Arab and foreign nations are taking part in the fair either directly or through agents.


According to the Arab Publishers Union, the Muscat International Book Fair is among the best 10 book fairs at the Arab level and one of the top three fairs at the Gulf level in terms of the number of visitors and publishers.


The fair gives Arab and foreign publishing houses an “opportunity to introduce institutions and market their publications”.


Besides, publications on diverse subjects, the fair also offers cultural, literary and art events.
