Asaad presides over closing ceremony of heritage fest

Maqshan: His Highness Sayyid Asaad bin Tareq al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Affairs and Personal Representative of His Majesty the Sultan, on Thursday patronised over the concluding ceremony of Maqshan 4th Heritage Festival, which started on December 18. The 10-day festival was organised by the office of Wali of Maqshan. The ceremony was attended by Sayyid Mohammed bin Sultan al Busaidy, Minister of State and Governor of Dhofar, a number of ministers, members of the State Council, Majlis Ash’shura and Shaikh Ahmad bin Musalim Jadad, Wali of Maqshan, Chairman of the Organising Committee of the Festival, as well as a number of officials, shaikhs of the governorate and a group of citizens.


The closing ceremony programme included a variety of Omani traditional programmes, as well as poems and Inshad. HH Sayyid Asaad honoured the sponsors and supporters of the festival as well as awarding the prizes for the first winners in the competition for the two beautification categories of Al Khazamah and Al Omaniyat. At the end of the ceremony, the chief guest toured the accompanying art exhibition organised by the Department of Handicraft Industries in the Governorate of Dhofar in cooperation with the Omani Women’s Association in Maqshan. The festival aims at maintaining the Omani true heritage, highlighting the cultural potentials and activating the cultural movement in Maqshan, in addition to providing the opportunity for camel breeders and citizens to market their camels. — ONA
