DOHA: Qatar Foundation, a member of the Qatar Foundation for Education and Community Development, in collaboration with the Global Leadership Foundation for Teachers (GEEO, based in Philadelphia, conducted the first cultural exploration trip for teachers from the United States to Qatar and Oman. Sixteen teachers from different schools in 12 US states spent 10 days from December 23 to January 3 in Qatar and Oman and explored historical and cultural sites in both countries.

The local guides accompanied the teachers during their visits to various regions in both the countries. Angela Williams, Associate Director of the Center for Middle East Studies at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, led the evening discussions on how participants in the journey benefited from their knowledge and experience to the classroom.

In Muscat, they learned about the Omani culture and history at the museum of Bait Zubair. They travelled to the coast, learned about the red rock formations of Najm, and also visited Wadi Bani Khalid. In Ibra, they ate traditional food around the fireplace and in the open air under the stars.
