MUSCAT, May 12 - League leaders Al Suwaiq overwhelmed Muscat 3-1 to open up a 14-point lead at the top of the Omantel League standings on Thursday. Al Shabab strengthened their hold on the second position with a 1-0 victory over Mirbat. Al Oruba defeated Al Mudhaibi 3-1 as they kept themselves in the fifth place with 29 points. Al Nasr jumped a place to the third spot after a goalless draw against Al Salam while Al Nahdha dropped a place to fourth after a 1-0 defeat to defending champions Dhofar. Sohar inflicted further misery on the relegation-threatened Saham who occupy the basement of the standings with a 1-0 win.
