Muscat: The Ministry of Sports has taken some path breaking initiatives for introducing various sports activities during the summer months. Under this programme, cricket has been chosen as one of the mainstream sports to be introduced. The Ministry has chosen the Al Hail Cricket Academy to undertake and lead the cricketing initiative, which is a huge honour and recognition for the Academy.

This is the second time in the Sultanate’s cricketing history that such an initiative is being undertaken and again by the same club. It is even more significant that the responsibility of implementing such an important initiative is being given to an Omani club by the esteemed sports body. Bader bin Mohammed al Shabibi, Deputy Director of Summer Sport Activity, Ministry of Sports Affairs and Moula Bakhsh al Balushi, Chairman — Al Hail Cricket Club are working together to take this unique initiative forward for the second time.

Moula Bakhsh al Balushi stated that, “we intend to spread awareness about this initiative at the ground level, across schools and other clubs through one-to-one interactions. We would like to involve more and more children across all nationalities to participate and develop a healthy body and a healthy mind ”

As summer quickly approaches so do the academy junior /senior summer camps.

Players can expect an expertly designed and delivered fun-filled two months of cricket coaching, games and cricket skill development, all inside our world-class, fully grassed ground. All run by our fully qualified, professional coaching team of Omani/expats.

The first batch of camps will start on July 1, 2018 and run until August 18, 2018, with each camp lasting 6 weeks in total.

The camp is for boys aged between 5-19 years old.

The camp will be open to newcomers to cricket and also to those who are part of Al Hail School of Cricket.

The registration is free but there are only spaces for 200 students per week.

At the end of the Summer Camp, the following awards will be presented to the winners and top performers in each age group, based on their performances in the matches conducted during the summer camps. (Winners Trophy, Runner up Trophy, Best Batsman in the Final, Best Bowler in the Final, Best Fielder in the Final, Man of the match Final, Best Batsman of the Tournament, Best Bowler of the Tournament and Player of the Tournament). Al Hail coaches will select the players and captains for respective teams and we wish all teams best of luck.
