MUSCAT: Ghala Golf Club will host yet another edition of its annual tribute open tournament, as a mark of respect to Oman’s greatest golfing legend, late His Highness Sayyid Kais bin Tariq al Said. The event, which witnessed a record-breaking 160 golfers last year, will tee off on January 20 and hopes to surpass new milestones. “Last year, we received a record-breaking response from the players. We want to keep that momentum and rewrite history this year as well. Every step we take in furthering golf in Oman is a victory for HH Kais, his passion and his efforts.
From being an elitist game reserved for a few to now being a competitive sport played by several nationalities, golf has witnessed a huge spike in interest over the last few years across Oman,” remarked Leon Sassen, General Manager at Golf World, while commenting on the one-day event. This single stableford format tournament is the largest one-day golf tournament in Oman and traditionally held at Ghala Golf Club. It culminates with a prize ceremony at the Ghala Golf Clubhouse. This event is open to all golfers in Oman to gather and celebrate the event.
