Over 216,000 insured in private sector

984794MUSCAT: Statistics issued by the Public Authority of Social Insurance (PASI) revealed that the number of active establishments covered by the social insurance system by the end of last March stood at 16,618. The number of active insured workers in the private sector in the Sultanate increased to 216,422 by the end of last March. The total number of registered cases during the first three months of 2017 reached 14,977 and the average wage for the total active insured stood at RO 665.

The majority of active insured persons in the age group from 26 to 30 years, account for 23.7 per cent of the total active insured, which indicates the capacity of the private sector in attracting national cadres in all its segments, as well as incentives that would provide a safe and attractive environment for various productive sectors, which in turn contribute to the growth of the national economy. End of service indicators show that the number of severance cases, which include termination of service, resignation, transfer to another employer and termination due to death or disability and termination of service for other reasons reached 13,809 cases during the first three months of 2017.
