Muscat: The Directorate General of Muscat Municipality has again reacted strongly to the complaints from citizens about the unpleasant odors that purportedly originate from the beaches in the Seeb area.

The municipality, in a statement released on Tuesday, said the fishermen have been the dumping the unfit fish caught during the day on the shores, which impact the health of the neighbourhood residents and the beach users.

Such unacceptable behavior leads to environmental pollution as stray dogs and insects feed on the rotten fish dumped by the fishermen.

The municipality said that it has made efforts by employing both the manpower and the necessary equipment to transport and dispose fish and help keep the beaches clean and free from health and visual contaminants.
