UNSC condemns barbaric attack

NEW YORK: The United Nations Security Council strongly condemned the deadly attack on an Istanbul nightclub which killed 39 people on Sunday.
In a press statement issued on Sunday afternoon, the Security Council members condemned “the heinous and barbaric terrorist attack” in the strongest terms.
They also reiterated that “any acts of terrorism are criminal and unjustifiable, regardless of their motivation, wherever, whenever and by whomsoever committed.”
The Security Council members reaffirmed that terrorism in all its forms and manifestations constitutes one of the most serious threats to international peace and security and underlined the need to bring perpetrators, organisers, financiers and sponsors of such”reprehensible acts of terrorism” to justice. — dpa
