A burst tyre was the cause of the horrific collision that left seven dead and 13 injured last Wednesday, the Royal Oman Police (ROP) has said. An Emirati bus had collided with a trailer truck near the Qarn Al Alam triangle on Salalah road. According to an ROP statement on its Twitter account, the bus veered to the opposite lane because its front left tyre had burst, resulting in the accident.
The statement also said the road is straight with no hurdles or road diversions at the accident spot.
Speed limit is fixed at 120 km.
Two people were killed and several injured when two passenger buses collided on the road to and from Salalah near Qarn Al Alam triangle on May 19.
The ill-fated buses were travelling on Salalah-Dubai and Muscat-Salalah routes.
