Muscat, Sept 16 - Three Oman bikers completed a 2,100-km round trip from Sydney to Brisbane and back recently. They began their trip on August 26. Mohammed al Sayegh, Hatem al Sayegh and his son Mohammed al Sayegh, 8, spent seven days on the road. Al Sayegh is the youngest to have accomplished such a trip on a motorcycle.

The trio embarked on the adventure to learn more about Australia, its attractions, culture and history. It wants to undertake similar trips in Oman as well as abroad. Hatem al Sayegh told the Observer “Tourism promotion of Oman was one of our goals. Some posters on Oman tourism were distributed en route. We enlightened people about Oman and its beauty. This initiative is self-funded. Hopefully, we will receive support from institutions in the near future as we aim to visit more countries.” The bikers met members of the Omani Society in Queensland when they arrived in Brisbane, where they were warmly welcomed. They were introduced to the Omani students studying in Queensland universities.

Talking about their challenges during the trip, Mohammed Al Sayegh said: “Some of the difficulties were freezing temperatures and unlit highways. We had to postpone the drive and start the next day.”
