State Council session starts today

MUSCAT: Upon the Royal Orders of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos, the State Council will open today its third annual sitting of the sixth term of the Council. Dr Khalid bin Salim al Saeedi, Secretary General of the State Council, said that the Council will begin the third annual sitting of the sixth term in implementation of Article (58) repeated (29) of the Basic Law of the State. He added that the Council will continue its third annual sitting in its efforts to strengthen the national tracks of action to strengthen the rule of law and institutions.
He pointed out that the Council is looking forward to a new annual sitting that is full of giving, culminating in the inauguration of the first and second annual sittings of the current sixth session of the Council, during which many draft laws, studies, proposals and reports have been completed which enhance the development process in the Sultanate and support its Renaissance in various areas.
The Council will discuss at the first regular session, the proposals of the Economic Committee for perusal during the third annual session of the sixth period, which is a study on the integration of the standard of living and productivity, and the possibilities of enhancing the independence of the national economy. It will also discuss the proposal of the social committee on the reality of sports clubs and ways to benefit them to serve the community and the Omani national project to reduce child accidents.
In addition, it will discuss the proposal submitted by Dr Suad Mohamed Ali Sulaiman al Lawati, State Council Chairperson on the practice of the profession of psychological counseling. It will review reports submitted by members about their participation and messages received by the Council of the concerned authorities, as well as access to the report of the General Secretariat of the Council. — ONA
